Island News

Well we had a nice visit with Shan got to enjoy her company for a couple days while she was home.
would have loved to have her stay longer but she had to head back down east to finish getting some time in with her family and friends down there.
She of course seen quiet a difference in Brooke ! and we managed to get a few pictures of them together.

Karla is now done of school. and has been hired on at Resolve, she starts there Monday morning, she was hired on the spot. so will be nice for her to finally have an income coming in that is reliable ! She was in to see some folks about getting her foot in the door at the group home she had done her OJT at , the guy that does the interviews won’t be in until Aug. 4th so she will have to go back to see him at that time, in the meantime she has resolve for a back up until she gets into a job in her field.
she works all this weekend at the Legion, this is likely her last weekend there since she will be doing shift work at resolve and if she is able to get on at the group home again will be doing shift work so she has to give up her bartending job for now anyway. She is hoping to keep her job on Wed. nights at the track , she does enjoy that one very much.

I went out and did some rearranging in my flower beds yesterday, I really want to just dig them all up and start over, but I’ll wait until the fall to do that I think.

This evening before the Rain started, we had Brooke outside to enjoy the breeze that was blowing the rain our way. it was a nice break from the hot sticky day we’d had, she enjoyed herself just take a look ….

I am here,, just haven’t had time to get on to post anything,, Brooke has been keeping us busy and we’re enjoying every minute of it.  We took her to the carnival last weekend, Karla took Brooke on the Merry go Round she loved it !  and I took her to Music in the park on Wednesday evening, she had the time of her life, dancing and singing and when people clapped for the band she thought they were clapping for her and she would laugh and yell at the people. 

last evening we took her to the pool and again she had a blast,  she kept dunking her face she was kicking and had the arm movements down,, if we could just get her to close her mouth so she wasn’t getting a bunch of water into her she’d be swimming !! just like her mama a little fish in the water ! 

Brooke is going like everything now,, she went from crawling to sprinting,, LOL she can sure move fast ! and she loves to climb !  she doesn’t stay on the floor for long, before she’s up by the sofa or coffee table standing up,, she’s even gotten the squatting down while holding onto the coffee table to pick up a toy.  she is just advancing so fast !!  and to think she won’t be 7 months old untl next friday ! 

Shan is home she arrived yesterday, so she’s spending the day today with her Daddy, and then she’s off to a wedding rehearsel tonight and then the wedding tomorrow, after that she’s getting some visiting done down her way and she will be coming up with us either Monday or Tuesday. Can’t wait to see her !!!! 

Wednesday morning Wendell’s sister and I took his mom over to Moncton for an eye appointment we had a great day, just us girls ! did a little shopping at Giant Tigar, what a great store !  I wish we had one here !

Back on Giz’s birthday Wendell went and got the dogs each a bone to enjoy outside and they did enjoy them Tango wasn’t overly fussy about it so Rudy ended up having 2,  but then on Sunday morning when we got up poor Rudy’s left eye was swollen shut !  we just thought that he must have gotten bitten by a bug or something, but as the day went on he wouldn’t eat. Sunday evening we took the dogs to the beach and let them run and he seemed back to his old self, running and playing and when we got home he ate and drank a bunch so we thought all was well.  Monday morning the whole side of his snout was swolllen, and he wouldn’t eat or drink, and he just lay on  his bed , so sad looking, when I tried to look in his mouth he yelped , it hurt him to open his mouth .I called the vet and they said to bring him in the next day after lunch. well when I got up Tuesday morning , he was very lathargic and wouldn’t get off his bed or anything.  so I called the vet back and told them that I didn’t think he could wait, by this time he’s really scaring me because he was looking sooo slckly. 

so rushed him in right away and they had to put him under and look in his mouth,  Near as we can tell he got a piece of the bone up under his gum now it was gone when she looked in but it left behind infection which was where the swelling was coming from. she was worried it was and absess so she took samples of it..  and gave him 2 shots one for the swelling and one for infection. and I waited until he woke up and we carried him to the car and I took him home, for most of the day he slept.  by evening he would drink out of our hands and if we gave him little pieces of food he would eat it. the next morning I gave him more med’s and he really started to come around and by Thursday he was back to his old self.  but what a scare he gave me !!  

Saturday evening we went to a friends house for a bon fire, we enjoyed that

HAPPY 15TH GIZZY !! 

last few days have be soo nice !! yesterday a friend and her daughter were over and we went for a nice walk for an hour and half on the boardwalk. the breeze kept us from roasting to death.

today I got some much needed house cleaning done and laundry. and got some meals made ahead to freeze some nice beef stirfry and some veggie soup

Karla stopped in for a quick visit on her way home from Ch’town, that was a nice surprise visit.
She was on her way to see her friend at the hospital who just had her baby yesterday.

I’m going to head out and fill up miss Brookes pool so it will be nice and warm for her tomorrow. Karla and her will be down sometime after lunch and will be taking up residents here for a week or so until Karla’s wackey schedule settles down a bit.Karla is in the process of transisioning Brooke over to whole milk from the formula. so that startes tomorrow as well.

Wendell is enjoying his new camera he took some really nice pictures he will have to post some of them to show you.

I ordered some books on Ebay for Brooke 33 Little Critter books they arrived today. so a few more for her collection.

We had the dogs at the park the other day and Rudy’s previous owners stopped by it was the first time they had seen him since Oct when we adopted him. They were very pleased at how good he looked, he has slimmed out a lot since they seen him last (he lost 8 lbs) and we’ve been giving him lots of denta bones so his teeth are nice and white now too, no more plaque. They were so happy to see how happy he is too. and how great he and Tango get along. I think it really eased their minds to see him. Not that they didn’t think he was going to be well looked after but its nice to actually see for themselves how well he is doing.
When they left he cried after them at the fence until they drove away and then he went back to playing . and he layed on our bed for the rest of the evening I think he was a little sad after seeing them. but he’s ok now. back to his old self.

I’m hoping this nice weather will keep up !! our landlord is having our house repainted since the paint is starting to bubble off in places. so when I find out excately when that is going to take place I’m going to dig up all my beds around the house and store the plants in buckets until they are finished and then I’ll build the beds up some and add lots of mutlch before replanting. I’ll likely have lots left over since the beds are so over grown right now. may have to give some stuff away.
