Least we forget.

On November 11, 1999 Terry Kelly was in a Shoppers Drug Mart store in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. At 10:55 AM an announcement came over the store’s PA asking customers who would still be on the premises at 11:00 AM to give two minutes of silence in respect to the veterans who have sacrificed so much for us.

Terry was impressed with the store’s leadership role in adopting the Legion’s “two minutes of silence” initiative. He felt that the store’s contribution of educating the public to the importance of remembering was commendable. When eleven o’clock arrived on that day, an announcement was again made asking for the “two minutes of silence” to commence. All customers, with the exception of a man who was accompanied by his young child, showed their respect.

Terry’s anger towards the father for trying to engage the store’s clerk in conversation and for setting a bad example for his child was later channeled into a beautiful piece of work called, “A Pittance of Time”. Terry later recorded “A Pittance of Time” and included it on his full-length music CD, “The Power of the Dream”.This has become my favorite rememberance day songs. You can go to Terry’s site to hear the song, here is the link. a pittance of time

As with other years rememberance day has arrived wet and cold. last night we had a little snow come down, my sister was over to watch movies and when I took her home around 11 last night it was dirty out and hard to see while driving. this morning the rain had taken over and no signs of snow were left.but while the snow was on the ground I found out that Rudy LOVES the snow I took him out for his last “bathroom break” when I got back and he had a ball out there he didn’t want to come in he ran in the snow and when I threw some up in the air he’d jump and try to catch it.  He’s going to love winter !Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the long weekend.

We didn’t get the snow down here Ellen…though 5 miles away in Murray River it snowed some. I also saw on facebook that Chad got snow in Truro also. We sure had some lovely mild weather on Thursday and Friday. I got the leaves and needles raked and into ours and the neighbours bins before the truck came around to empty them. But this morning while at the beach early some wet pellets were coming down. I just loved this song and video by Terry Kelly it is just awesome.
    Have a great Sunday Ellen…weekend almost over…
    Hugs,
