Ellen | July 30, 2006 | 12:34 am | Blogging | 2 Comments

Just got home here, Vivian, Ruby (MIL) Donna Jean and I got together and went to O’leary to a little skit musical that was being put on as part of the O’leary Potatoe Blossom Festival, we had a great time, the acts were great !! 3 people from the community kept us in stitches, they played the parts of Johnny Cash, June Carter, Buddy Holly, and  Elvis Presley,  they put on a very good show and it was only $12 a ticket !

I managed to get out of work on time at 4 today , so got home cleaned up and set out to pick up Viv and Ruby then we headed west, along with really enjoying the show we had a great visit on the drive up and back.

its still hot and sticky the heat is making the air heavy everywhere . I guess they got quite a Thunder storm up in the western part of the  island the other evening,, bad enough that they lost power in the evening and again the next day for  a few hours.

Enjoy the weekend folks!!! try to stay out of the heat :)

I think this little guy is singing his little heart out  :)

Had to share
Ellen | July 28, 2006 | 8:29 pm | Blogging | 2 Comments

Got this in an email from my niece, and had to share it. (Thanks Barb)
He had just saved her from a fire in her house, rescuing her by
carrying her out of the house into her front yard, while he
continued to fight the fire.
She is pregnant. When he finally got done putting the fire out, he sat down to catch
his breath and rest.
A photographer from the Charlotte, North Carolina newspaper, “The
Observer,” noticed her in the distance looking at the fireman
He saw her walking straight toward the fireman and wondered what
she was going to do.
As he raised his camera, she came up to the tired man who had saved
her life and the lives of her babies, and kissed him, just as the
photographer snapped this photograph
.
And people say animals are dumb!!!!!!!!!!FwdFwThe.jpg

Hump day
Ellen | July 26, 2006 | 8:07 pm | Blogging | 4 Comments

well I will be going to work tomorrow, apparently 2 girls quit since Friday, (the 2 newest girls) apparently Saturday was quite a day for them and they just refuse to come back. Not good, the worst of it is the newest girl that had just started a week ago was such a quick learner, she was catching on really quickly and had a great sense of humor, and was great to work with.

At any rate if the boss doesn’t soon listen to what we’re telling him and hire MORE staff he’s never going to keep anyone working for him especially at minimum wage when other Sears in the rest of the maritimes are paying a starting wage of $8.50 + .

I actually like doing the books and I enjoy the customers but if I was needing to work full time and make a living at a job that is not the place I would be, sad but when they are too cheap to pay the wages to match the work being done and be good to the staff, not work them like dogs then they can’t expect people to stay there.

for the place to run effeciently he would need 2 X the amount of staff he has and the wages would need to be at least $1.00 more an hour. THEN he might be able to keep people.

anyhow I sure am not going to worry about it,, I will go in a few days a week here and there to help out but I’m not going to take up the slack for the staff that walked out on him. He’ll have to figure that one out and get with the program.

Today I went over to my sisters and cleaned her livingroom carpet for her we visited and had a nice afternoon. Yesterday DJ was down and we went for lunch and had a nice visit.

Not much happening here, just wanted to post so you all didn’t think we disappeared :)

HAHA for the day:

Once upon a time, there were four people; Their names were Everybody, Somebody, Nobody and Anybody.

Whenever there was an important job to be done, Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. When Nobody did it, Everybody got angry, because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought that Somebody would do it, but Nobody realized that Nobody would do it.

So consequently, Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done in the first place.

another one :

TRY AND ARGUE THIS ONE…

A man and his wife were getting a divorce at a local court. However, the custody of their child posed a problem. The mother jumped to her feet and protested to the judge that since she had brought the child into this world, she should retain custody of them. The man also wanted the custody of his children. The judge asked for his side of the story, too.

After a long moment of silence, the man rose from his chair and replied, “Judge, when I put a dollar in a vending machine and a Pepsi comes out, does the Pepsi belong to me or to the machine?”

Happy Hump day!!
