Bejewled2

Ellen | February 25, 2006

ok used to play bejewled on the puter, now they have the newer version and you can only play for so long and then you have to buy it, so Wendell  has the registered version on his new Xbox,, the problem is now, WE BOTH want to play it .. grrrrrr

Shan’s Birthday was yesterday HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHAN!! Your gift is here all wrapped up waiting for you to come home and open it :)

Wendell and I went out for supper this evening, it was lovely, he had the steak, I decided on having the chicken crepe. it was delish :)

So today has been a fairly full day,, Laundry got done, groceries were bought and put away, house cleaning is done, colored Karla’s hair for her, went out for supper, played a weeee bite of Xbox before going for groceries.

Now I think I’ll grab a glass of wine and sit back and read a book since I doubt I’m going to get to play any bejewled this night :)

almost the weekend

Ellen | February 23, 2006

Well one more night until the weekend is upon us again.  Tonight I ended up coming home early, my head was aching so much it was making me sick to my stomach. So I bailed and came home, got into my PJ’s and wrapped up in a blanket on the lazyboy. Just about ready to go to bed, and its an hour before I would have gotten off work if I had stayed.

a week from tomorrow is my last day at work. hard to believe that 17 weeks went by that fast !!

This week has went by fast as well. and tomorrow is a short day for me I will be using some vacation time and leaving early so that only leaves half a shift tomorrow,  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and half of Thursday evening of work for me !!

Well that’s about all the news from here for today, not much but thought I would at least put a short post in.

Have a great Friday everyone!!

Becoming Debt free.

Ellen | February 20, 2006

Did that title catch your attention? haha I decided to do a little research and share it with you.

I’ve been doin a little research to see what is the best way to pay down credit cards. and I think I will start doing it this way, apply my full paycheques to the card, and then use the card for what I would normally use my pay for (groceries, gas ect) and have less interest accumulate on the card. while still making larger payments to bring the principal amount down. I’m trying to apply some different things that I’ve found for “getting out of debt” and one of them is to put money into a savings account as often as possible so I will have an automatic transfer to the savings account each pay even if its only $10 or $20 it will add up over the course of a year.

In looking up things like this I have found that although sometimes we may feel our debt is overwhelming to us, we (Wendell and I ) are doing pretty darn well compared to other folks bringing in the same yearly income. (no I’m not going to say what we do or do not owe on here). Its hard to believe the debt people can accumulate without even realizing it ! Some people don’t even know WHAT they owe in credit cards and loans ect. How can you not know what you owe ??

Why am I telling you all this, well I figure MOST people are in the same boat as us and want to try to get a nest egg started up or build on the one they have, and get rid of their debt as well. and from everything I can find on the subject it comes back to the same thing everytime.

PAY yourself FIRST. even if its just a few $ a week put it away for your nest egg. we all should have on average enough of a nest egg to keep us going for 3 months., should something happen that we couldn’t work or was unable to have our usual income coming into the household. Not many of us do, but apparently if we had that much we would be well on our way to becoming debt free.

Here is a website that may help you : Click Here

Oprah had a show on about the great american Debt Diet, there are great pointers on her site as well. they have to be tweaked a bit to apply to us here in Canada but its all good information.

Of course everything sounds good in theroy not all of us can apply all the rules, most people will say , but I CAN’T pay myself first there just isn’t the xtra cash to do that, but that is what the experts are telling us to do , so do we make smaller payments on our credit lines and make a payment to ourselves first, no of course not, you get the credit down to a position where you can start to make smaller payments on that area without paying big interest charges and THEN start paying yourself.

One area I looked at also said to “play the credit game” in other words, go to different banks and find the ones which will let you transfer all your credit lines into one loan with little or no interest for a year, you do that and shortly after the year is up find another one to do the same so that you are always only paying on the principal amounts and very little interest, which will allow you to pay the credit amount off faster.

There are all kinds of little tricks if we just knew where to look. I’m still investigating it all and learning about it. I want to have a solid plan together for us to start working on within a month.

So that’s my little tidbit of helpful information for the day, a lot of it is common sense but its just sometimes hard to see the big picture if your drowning in debt. So if it helped someone start to see the light at then end of the tunnel then its all good.
Well its starting to warm up a little here we’re up to a temp. of -5 degrees. Better than the -15 it was all weekend !

The fantasia party went very well, everyone had a good time, it was a fairly quiet crowd not as talkative and fun as the last one I held a few years ago but still fun and enjoyable :)

Wendell and I didn’t get out for our dinner date over the weekend like we planned but we’ll do that next weekend for sure. It won’t be as rushed, there was just to much going on and too many things to try to get done this weekend to try and get out for a nice dinner.

He is enjoying his new Xbox , I knew he would :) so now that he’s got the “big ticket item” he wanted and I have mine (my treadmill) we should be done with the “wish lists” for a while ;)

Hope everyone has a great week !!
