Something to get you thinking :)

Ellen | January 29, 2006 | 10:44 pm

This is a quiz for people who know everything. I found out in a hurry that I didn’t. Of course I never thought I did in the first place, this only proved it beyond a doubt. These are not trick questions. They are straight questions with straight answers

1. Name the one sport in which neither the spectators nor the participants knows the score or the leader until the contest ends.
2. What famous North American landmark is constantly moving backward?

3. Of all vegetables, only two can live to produce on their own for several growing seasons. All other vegetables must be replanted every year. What are the only two perennial vegetables?

4. Name the only sport in which the ball is always in possession of the team on defense, and the offensive team can score without touching
the ball?

5. What fruit has its seeds on the outside?

6. In many liquor stores you can buy pear brandy with a real pear inside the bottle. The pear is whole and ripe, and the bottle is genuine; it hasn’t been cut in any way. How did the pear get inside the bottle?

7. Only three words in standard English begin with the letters “dw” and they are all common words. Name two of them.

8. There are 14 punctuation marks in English grammar. Can you name at least half of them?
9. Where are the lakes that are referred to in the Los Angeles Lakers?
10. There are 7 ways a baseball player can legally reach first base without getting a hit. Taking a base on balls (a walk) is one way. Name the other 6.

11. Name the only vegetable or fruit that is never sold frozen, canned, processed, cooked, or in any other form except fresh.

12. Name 6 or more things that you can wear on your feet beginning with the letter “S.”

Tough huh? Now that we have found out what you don’t know, lets look at the answers to the quiz:

Movies

Ellen | | 12:11 pm

Today I’m going to stay in and watch movies, I have 3 to watch before they have to be returned tomorrow.

I have Wedding Crashers, Red Eye and The Man Who Cried. I’ll come back and give my opinion on them later :)

Yesterday I finally got my hair cut, very few people know how to cut hair with a razor, rather than sissors, but there is one lady at First Choice hairdressers who does it , and I was able to get in to see her so it is all good. :)

I also went up to pick up a few groceries so I thought I would check out the new Sobeys store , its a nice store from what I can tell from going around the parimiter, no way was I going to even try to get up and down the aisles, I only had a couple things I needed to pick up anyway so I was able to get it all just around the outter edge of the store, but I did notice one thing, have you ever been told by a nutrisionist that when shopping try to get most of your groceries from the outside parimiter this is where all the fruits, produce, meats ect are that are what your suppose to have, the aisles are basically the “junk” food you really don’t need.

Well this new store did not follow that trend, when you first go in there is the fruit and veg section (good) and right beside it is the case where they are making pizza’s fried chicken ect. (same as the superstore), then you start going around and you get to the bread and then meat sections,, so far so good right, well you only went to 1 cornor of the store now from that point all the way around to the cash registers (2 mor cornors to go) its all frozen foods, ice creams, ect.  in between the breaded chicken and fish you’ll find a section of dairy then you get to the frozen pizza’s ect and then down the side where there is frozen veggies there is the butter and cheese section, then your into the frozen waffles  ect. So anyone who is trying to “be good” and only shop the “good for you ” parts of the store, you’ll have to go all over,  not sure if I like the layout of the store or not, ( I don’t usually shop at Sobeys anyway) but I’m sure once one got used to the layout the store would be fine, its just with it only being open a week it was still way busier than I was comfortable with, so I just got what I needed and got outta there.

ok I’m off to go do some movie watching :)

Almost the weekend again

Ellen | January 26, 2006 | 11:03 am

Well we’re almost to the weekend again, yesterday was a looooong night at work, my head was aching and I was having a hard time to stay awake my sinus’s were giving me a hard time.

feeling better this morning tho. and I did stick it out for the full shift last night, but I was glad to see the time go by and it become time to come home!

tonight we are having a pizza party, we collected coupons back in Dec when we had our christmas party at pizza delight so we ended up with 13 free pizza’s so tonight we are going to cash them in and have  a full unit lunch.

I am going to (hopefully) get my hair cut this weekend. it needs it badly!!

its fairly cool out today and a few flurries are coming down, don’t think its going to amount to anything.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the week!

Did you vote?

Ellen | January 23, 2006 | 2:16 pm

Did everyone get out and vote today? Some folks don’t bother to vote at all but I think that is just wrong, you have the ability and the means to vote you should go and vote.

I’ll be at work when the votes are tallied, so it will be midnight before I find out what happened.

Its very cold here today! I keep waiting for the big storm to hit us, I can’t believe we’re getting close to the end of January and no major storms yet! well we had one there back in Dec when we got a day off work due to the weather , but that was it! one of these days we’re going to get up to a big pile of snow and be snowed in for a couple of days!

Only 2 weeks until survivor starts folks!! there is going to be 4 tribes starting out, men vs women , older vs younger. and as they get voted off they will be sent to another island by themselves. should be interesting this year.
got this in my email and thought it was fitting for the day:)

A little boy goes to his dad and asks, “What is Politics?”
